November 2008 - Research Roadshow Seminars
During November Australian Pork Limited and the Pork Cooperative Research Centre will take their research to the pork industry through a number of RoadShow Seminars. APL general manager for research and innovation, Dr Darryl D’Souza, and chief executive of the Pork CRC, Dr Roger Campbell, say the RoadShow provides an avenue for producers to find out about new developments in the industry.

"The seminars provide an opportunity for us to present research to the wider pork industry, it is also an opportunity for producers to question our research and bring a fresh input to the findings," Dr D'Souza said.

Keynote speaker Randy Stoecker has more than 30 years experience in the US pork industry, recently retiring as president of Murphy Brown's (Smithfield) Western Operations, the USA’s largest pork producer with one million sows.

"Mr Stoecker is a keen advocate of the uptake of proven science and technology and is well placed to provide some insight into how we might improve our competitiveness here in Australia," Dr Campbell said.

While in Australia Mr Stoecker will also present at a variety of industry discussion groups, where he is keen to exchange information on production and management strategies.

The RoadShow schedule is:

Perth, WA - 13:00 Tuesday, November 4 - Country Comfort
Inter City Motel, 249-263 Great Eastern Hwy, Belmont

Young, NSW - 13:00 Monday, November 10 - Young Golf Club, William St, Young
